Fleamarket

Havelock Museum has a regular fundraising activity in the form of a Fleamarket which is organised by volunteer members in the Jack Shand Building (support building) beside the Museum.

This means of gaining funds was initialised by an incoming committee back in 1998 when after a two day very successful garage sale it was decided to continue it on a weekly basis.  The items which were sold at the garage sale on that weekend were all donated by the public from the surrounding area as well as Blenheim.  For the first year or so sites were rented out to the locals but it soon became apparent  that this could not continue inside due to the great number of items which were being donated, thus limiting space.  The installation of a room for storage and work on Museum collection items, in the back third, lessened the space even more so now sites are available outside only.

Generally the price on donated items is very low but the best return on any article is sought for the benefit of the Museum.

Come along and spend an hour or so to have a look around our treasure trove if you are looking for something special for yourself, your home or a gift.  You won't be disappointed.

The Fleamarket is open on Saturday mornings from 10am - 1pm weather permitting.
